Pearl’s new Reference One 4-piece shell pack offers the unique perks of their original Reference Series drums and has a sturdy hardline build that creates a one-of-a-kind sound. This modern hybrid drum set includes their EvenPly shells customized to a thinner mold and are fitted with MasterCast die-cast hoops to enhance a masterful combination of both sustain and attack. The shell’s bearing angle, thickness and wood type were taken into careful consideration and turned directly into worthy upgrades. Reference One also includes Pearl’s groundbreaking R2 Air Tom Suspension System, which perfectly balances the mounted toms on four points, for a truly weightless feel and hardware that encompasses high tonal clarity and a punchy attack.

Quality from the Inside-Out

Reference One shell pack produces a high-quality drumming experience. Its shells are each designed to bring out full-bodied tones. The 8” and 10” (5.4mm) EvenPly shells are made with maple and birch for a more robust attack and high pitch capabilities. The 12” tom references "middle c," which is the standard across North America for all maple drums’ tonal center.

Larger tom drums are accessorized with mahogany inner plies that add tonal depth and increase frequencies in the lower register. Floor toms and bass drums are a stealth combination of maple and mahogany to maximize the lower frequency blasts. Pearl’s self-aligning Single Swivel STL100 Lugs and SST stainless steel tension rods make for easy tuning. These beautiful drums are completed by matching maple hoops, D054 Die-cast Claw Hooks and dependable Remo drum heads.
